Motivation is what gets you started; habit is what keeps you going. – Anonymous King David had a godly ambition. The Ark of God had been removed from its place in Jerusalem, and he wanted to return it to its rightful place, but in his zeal to do right, he paid no attention to how the Ark was to be transported (Numbers 4:15). Instead, King David substituted a convenient way instead of the obedient way, and it cost Uzzah, his dear friend, his life. Our sincerity is important, but it is possible to be sincerely wrong! We are a voluntary organization, and our volunteers serve the Lodge to bring about benevolent generosity. As volunteers, select an area in which you serve here at the Lodge, then answer this question: What does the Lord say about how I should do this? Our motives and methods are very important in how we do our work. |

As your newest ER, I have discovered in just two short weeks that instead of pulling together as a strong team, some of us have a reputation for being a bit too critical and judgemental, which causes mistrust and hurt feelings. That can result in people choosing not to volunteer, and jobs go unattended and incomplete. Let’s learn to communicate more with team-building attitudes rather than blasting off at one another. You will be surprised at how much better the daily flow of things accomplished and job well done satisfies.
Respectfully Yours,
ER Dave S
