Monday, September 6, 2021Monday Motivation
“Labor Day… constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.” – US Department of Labor

We can bring this thought closer to home and into our Lodge where we can celebrate “the contributions our volunteers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our Lodge.”

We are entering what is arguably the busiest season our Lodge has experience in recent memory with activities happening a full seven days a week.  At the same time, our revenue is also hitting greatly needed highs.  This is all good stuff for the Lodge, but it should never be forgotten that the doors of the Lodge would be closed if not for the efforts of our amazing volunteers.  In fact, all of Elkdom operates on the energy, passion, and commitment of volunteers.

On this Labor Day as we pay tribute to the “strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country” let us also honor and celebrate the service of our volunteers who selflessly dedicate themselves to our Lodge and our Order.  Thank you to all our volunteers!

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” – Mahatma Gandhi

Active Service Members Wall
The House Committee voted to revive the Active Service Members Photo Wall in our Lodge.  The Photos had been removed when the Lodge was repainted during our COVID closure.

If you are an Elk from our Lodge (or know of one) that is actively serving in the military, please submit your 8×10” or similar sized photo of yourself in uniform to our office so we can begin reassembling the wall.

After Party September 17
Our After Parties are receiving wonderful reviews from the attendees.  It’s a great night to stay out dancing.  Our Next After Party will be on Friday, September 17, from 8-11pm

The band Bonneville 7 will be bringing their Rockabilly and blues music to the Lodge.  This is a great band for dancing and I’m sure we will have a huge crowd.

Please remember that unless otherwise noted, all Elk events are for Elks members and their guests only, and not open to the general public.  If you’re receiving this email and you’re not a member, it’s time for you to sign up!

Impact The Life of a Child
As you probably know, your Purple Pig donations go directly to providing a variety of medical therapies for children in our area.  But did you know you can effortlessly donate as little as $5 a month by just filling out a short online form?

The CHEA website allows you to sign up as a recurring CHEMPI (Purple Pig) donor.  Here’s how it’s done:Click on this linkChoose Donation Type that says, “To Credit you and your Lodge…”Click on the Recurring Donation boxSelect your monthly donation amountSelect “Vista, Lodge Number 1968”Complete the rest of the formSelect “OTHER” from the “Type of Donation”Five minutes of effort on your part can impact the life of a child on our neighborhood.  Thanks for your generosity!

Urgent Volunteer Needs
If you’re looking for a place to volunteer at the Lodge, we can sure use your help!  Here are a couple of areas for you to consider:

Inventory – Helping to count our food and beverage inventory once a month. The day and time are flexible.
Bingo – Being a Bingo volunteer a couple of times a month.  Bingo is every Tuesday from 11am to 3pm.  It’s a great way to be social, helpful, and have fun!

Please reply to this email if you can help in any way.  Your help is much appreciated!

Have a great week, friends!
