Monday Motivation
“It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.” – Anonymous

Do you ever watch those home renovation programs on HGTV? I find it both entertaining and fascinating how when searching for homes, one party sees a low-priced dump of a house, and the other party, the renovators, sees a model home. Both parties are looking at the same dwelling. One party sees what is, and the other sees what could be. Personally, I prefer to be in the latter group that focuses on the potential, but then after nearly two years of these Monday Motivations, you probably already knew that about me.

Boots & Boogie Boots & Boogie was so much fun last Friday night! I had no idea there were so many of our members that knew how to country dance. Every seat at every table was reserved and people started to arrive even before the 4:30pm dance lesson time. Tammy was a wonderful teacher for the line dancing! Nitro Express did a great job at providing musical variety in the country music genre. They would even call out dances from time to time. I barely know how to two-step but it all looked like fun!

Our ticket times for the kitchen got long but that is because our kitchen size is physically to small for the number of patrons we have on Friday nights. Our food and beverage staff (cooks, waitresses, bartenders, runners, etc.) are doing the best they can with what they have to work with, and I want to thank them for all their hard work.
Boots & Boogie was so successful, we’ll be doing it again next month on Friday, February 25th. Plan on it!

PER Night This coming Thursday night we will be honoring all the Past Exalted Rulers that have led our lodge over the previous 66 years. Six of our ten living PERs will be leading the meeting and you won’t want to miss it. The meeting will begin at 7pm, following Cook Your Own Steak at 4:30pm.
The meeting is expected to run less than an hour and a reception with light sandwiches and a cake will follow. Please join us for this annual special event!

Heroes of Vista The Vista Elks Lodge #1968 has been selected as an award finalist in the Non-Profit of the Year category for the 11th Annual Heroes of Vista event. What a great honor for our lodge and tribute to our volunteers!

Heroes of Vista is a gala fundraiser and community awards presentation hosted by the Vista Chamber of Commerce.  This year, the event will be held at The Vistonian (306 S. Santa Fe Ave, Vista), on Friday, March 18, 2022. The awardees will be announced that evening! Last year, Vista Elks Lodge member, Col. John Telles, Jr., was awarded Veteran of the Year at the 10th Annual Heroes of Vista.

Early Membership Thanks to all our members who have chosen to pay your yearly membership dues early. Renewing your membership early helps our lodge in so many ways! To renew your membership, please call our office at 760-724-1968, Monday through Friday, between 9am and 2pm.

Tuesday Night Dinner Tuesday Dinners feature a different specially made dish each week and offered at very fair prices. Plus, Restless Natives provides the live music. This Tuesday features chicken and cheese enchiladas, served with beans and rice. All for just $12!

Have a great week!
