Monday Motivation
“If you’re going through hell, keep going.” – Winston Churchill

I was speaking with one of our members this past weekend that is going through a difficult season.  We’ve all had them.  No one in immune.  It’s a struggle to awaken each morning and realize that the only way “out” is “through.”

It takes energy, and even courage, to suppress the desire to simply pull the sheets over your head and spend the day in bed, but you must press on.  As Winston Churchill said, “If you’re going through hell, keep going.”  Or as I like to say, “If you’re going through hell, don’t pitch a tent.”

Thank You To All
We had two big events this past week; the visitation of our District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler, Carl Patton, and First Lady, Joy Patton; and Oktoberfest.

The level of energy and commitment invested by so many people to pull these two events off was amazing to watch.  So many of our members volunteered in setting up, decorating, cooking, greeting, serving, and cleaning.  Many of the same members worked both events!

There are too many people to list by name and I would hate to leave anyone out.  Please know your efforts are seen and much appreciated.  Our Lodge exists and advances because of dedicated workers like you!  Thank you!

New Year’s Eve Information
This year, our New Year’s Eve is actually two celebrations back-to-back.  This will be the biggest event of our year and reservations are HIGHLY recommended.  I wouldn’t be surprised if we sold out in the next couple of weeks.

We will be selling 188 seats, plus another 50 seats in the overflow area.  That’s 238 seats total.  That may sound like a lot but the office has been receiving calls for a few weeks and our RV Park is already sold out for that weekend.  If you want to be a part of the celebration, you need to reserve your seats ASAP.

The First Celebration – 5-9pm
The first celebration will begin at 5pm for those who wish to celebrate the 9pm east coast new year.

Dinner will include an appetizer, your choice of either Barron of Beef or Chicken Piccata, each served with side dishes, and dessert.  Dinner will be served at approximately 5:30pm to 8:30pm.

The band for the first seating will be American Roots, always a Lodge favorite.  American Roots will be playing from 6pm through the east coast new year at 9pm pacific time.

The Second Celebration – 9pm to 1am
For those who plan on staying up past midnight, we’ve got one of the best dance/party bands in San Diego… Urban Gypsys!  They will be picking up where American Roots left off, taking it up a notch, and playing us into the new year!

Dinner for the second seating will include various items served from both our hot and cold buffets.  We will have a nice selection for you.  The buffets will be available at approximately 9:15pm to 11pm.  We’ll also be serving breakfast burritos at 12:30am.

11 O’clock Toast
At 11pm, we’ll have a brief break in the action for our very moving Elks Eleven O’clock Toast.

Early Seating Prices
$60 per person if you pay by November 30. The price changes to $65 per person on December 1.

If you RSVP for the early seating, feel free to stay after 9pm and enjoy the later band.

NOTE: 1) You are reserving seats, not a table.  There is limited space and every seat will be sold.  2) Early seating guests will not have access to the hot and cold buffets.

Late Seating Prices
$40 per person if you pay by November 30. The price changes to $45 per person on December 1.

If you RSVP for the late seating, you’re welcome to arrive before 9pm and enjoy the early band.

NOTE: 1) You are reserving seats, not a table.  There is limited space and every seat will be sold.  2) Late seating guests will not have access to the hot and cold buffets until roughly 9:15pm, but bar service will be available.

Social Quarters – Overflow Seating
Our Social Quarters area will also have reserved tables, however, their view of the stages will be somewhat obscured.  Elks members not wishing to be a part of the celebration will be seated at the “bar top” or in the Game Room, as seating allows, or outside on the heated patio.  There will be no food service without a celebration ticket.

Waiting List
Once the preferred and overflow seating is sold out, the best we will be able to do is enter names on a waiting list.  Again, don’t get caught short.  Get your reservations in ASAP.
