“Even if you are on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.” – Will Rogers

I love the way Elkdom celebrates the doers… those who get it done. I like the Chinese proverb that says, “Those who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those doing it.” This Thursday, we will be celebrating doers; those who signed a blank check and handed it to the Department of Defense, payable with their blood and sweat, their time and commitment, and some even with their lives. If you are a Veteran reading this email, I offer my heartfelt “thank you for your service.”

CHEA Mid-Term
The CHEA Mid-Term Convention in Riverside was held this past weekend. It was a great gathering of Elks from California and Hawaii. The attendance was phenomenal, causing a few frustrations with lodging, but in the end, all worked out and we had a great time. I will be writing about Mid-Term in the December newsletter.

Tuesday Dinner
This Tuesday’s dinner is Prime Rib French Dip sandwiches with hand-cut boardwalk fries. All for just $10. Restless Natives will also be playing. See you at 5pm!

Veteran’s Day BBQ
This Thursday is Veteran’s Day we’re having a BBQ in their honor. The BBQ will begin with a ceremony honoring our Vets and the long association the Elks have had with Veterans. The ceremony will be followed by grilled hamburgers and hot dogs that will be served free to all Vets ($5 for the rest of us). We hope you will be able to join us on Thursday at 4pm. I will also be introducing our new Veteran’s Committee Chairman. It’s going to be a great day!

More for Vets
One of our members, Edward Collins, sent me a link for some great information. Click here to see additional Veteran’s Day discounts at local establishments.

Tamales
Remember the wonderful handmade Tamales we had last year at Christmas time?  We’re doing it again this year… and you can pre-order your Tamales right away.
Vera Marcado and her talented team will be hand making each Tamale to Vera’s exacting standards. Vera used to own a very successful Tamale shop and knows how to make great, handmade Tamales.

Tamales will be sold in 6-packs. No special order or mixed packs.
Beef with Red Sauce $18 per pack
Pork or Chicken with Red Sauce $16 per pack
Vegetarian Jalapeño w/Monterey Jack Cheese $16 per pack

Call the office today to place your order for these beauties, along with payment. Your order can be picked up on Monday, December 20 through Wednesday, December 22, between 9am – 2pm.

Have a great week, friends!
ER David
