“The future ain’t what it used to be.” – Lawrence Peter “Yogi” Berra
Greetings Friends
As we continue to move closer to the Governor’s projection of having California “fully open” by June 15, our favorite activities will be reintroduced to our Lodge. However, with the unexpected nature of COVID restriction, we may find ourselves saying, “The future ain’t what it used to be.”
Kitchen Help Needed
We’re needing kitchen help on weekends. We can train you if you’re willing but not sure what to do. Our weekends include lunches on Saturday from 11am to 2pm and Sunday breakfast from 8:30am to 12-noon. If you’re able to help even one day a month, please reply to this email and let me know. Thanks in advance!
Mother’s Day – Sunday, May 9
If you joined us for our Easter Eggstravaganza you experienced our amazing brunch buffet. Well, we’re doing it again for Mother’s Day! Our all-you-can-eat breakfast offering included eggs prepared multiple ways, various meats, pancakes, French toast, omelet bar, and desserts. An amazing feast for $20.
The brunch will run from 9am to 12pm. At noon, our Lodge officers will celebrate the moms with our Elks Mother’s Day Ritual. Reservations are highly encouraged. Don’t miss it!
Carnaval de Caribbean – Saturday, May 15
I think all our events are wonderful but I have to admit that I’m especially excited about our upcoming Carnaval de Caribbean. The Caribbean has a rich diversity of cultures, including the one I am most familiar with, Puerto Rico. My ancestors are from the towns of Fajardo and Naguabo, in Puerto Rico and I was born in San Juan.
My childhood was filled with the flavors of the island and I even learned to cook a few of the dishes. It’s these amazing flavors you will be enjoying during the evening. I’ll even be lending a hand in the kitchen!
Carnaval de Caribbean is a Purple Pig event and the committee is working hard to transform our outdoor space into a Caribbean paradise, made complete with the music of steel drums. All the proceeds from the event will go to our Purple Pig charities that pay for the therapies of disabled children in our community.
Please call the Lodge office and reserve your spot today! The cost is $20 per person.
NOTE: If you would like to help out setting up and/or decorating for Carnaval de Caribbean, please reply to this email and let me know. We appreciate your help.
Have a great week!
