Monday Motivation “A diamond is a chunk of coal that did well under pressure.” – Henry Kissinger If you have ever driven north on the California coast up to Carmel, you have no doubt seen the beautiful cypress trees that cling to the rocks along the coastline. I’m always impressed by the way these trees bend toward the land by the constant force of the wind, deformed to the point that their angle toward the shore is permanent, even when the wind isn’t blowing. They may give, but they never break. Instead of these trees being uprooted by the pressure of the wind, their roots cling to the bedrock… they will not be moved! As a result of their tenacious grip on their firm foundation, they have become famous and often photographed. Don’t believe me? Google “Lone Cypress Carmel” and you’ll see what is likely the MOST photographed tree in the state. Do you shine like a diamond when life gets stressful? Psalm 18:2 says it best, “The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” IMPORTANT: Friday Night Reservations This is just a reminder for our Friday night guests. When you make a reservation, you are reserving seats, not a table. For example, if you place a reservation for two at a table for four, others will likely be joining you, but that’s a good thing. It’s a great way to meet other Elks and make new friends! Also, we are no longer taking reservations for Prime Rib. It’s first-come, first-served. Bingo Special If you’re coming for Bingo tomorrow and arrive before 10:30am, you’ll get a free muffin and cup of coffee! Bring your friends and check our new daytime Bingo! Tuesday Dinner Tomorrow night, we have some comfort food for you… Homemade Prime Rib beef stew, salad, and a roll for just $10. Dinner is served from 5pm until 7pm or until we run out of food. Restless Natives will also be playing the classic rock & roll at the Swim Step Bar in the RV Park. Lodge Leadership Are you interested in being involved with the leadership of the Lodge? We have a number of opportunities to help you on your leadership journey with complete with instructional manuals and mentoring. Our Lodge is run by volunteers just like you so let me know by replying to this email if you’re willing to step up. I’d enjoy having that conversation. Have a great week, friends! ER David |
