Monday Motivation – Christmas Memories
“I make old family receipts like granddad’s homemade eggnog with Keepers [Heart Irish] Whiskey, some of mom’s cookies, and her crocheted tree wrap for the bottom [of the tree], and put up a couple of our homemade painted Christmas bulbs that we made 50 years ago.” – Myra Walker
“Lighting Advent Candles with my family. We always did a Bible reading and lit a candle. Making sweet fruit cake soaked in rum. Baking, baking, baking all kinds of cookies and candies to give away. Buying a fresh green Christmas tree that smelled ever so sweet. Large family gatherings for dinner, laughter, hugs, and fun. Christmas Eve Candle Service at my church. At the end of service we would all sing Silent Night and walk outside about midnight with our lit candles and stand around the cross and sing.” – Sharron Cannon (PER)
For many years my Christmas Eve tradition was to watch “Christmas In Connecticut” (1945) starring Barbara Stanwyck, Dennis Morgan, and Sydney Greenstreet. We would come home from the Christmas Eve service and do family stuff, then late at night, I’d start watching the film.
Whatever your Christmas traditions may be, I hope you have a Blessed and Merry Christmas!
