Monday Motivation
“Our greatest fear should not be of failure but of succeeding at things in life that don’t really matter.” – Francis Chan
It seems like the older I get the pickier I become regarding the things that are going to occupy my time. It’s not that my time is more precious than anyone else’s… it’s not. Neither is yours more precious or valuable than mine. We all have the same 24-hours in the day.
It’s my choices that I am more thoroughly examining; where and with whom I spend my time, what I watch on TV or on YouTube, whose opinions I value, and the relationships I invest in.
My nature… my inner default programming is driven to succeed. Although I don’t always reach my goals, I always strive to reach them. Knowing that the bulk of my days are behind me (and my best days are yet to come!), I endeavor to succeed at things that matter; being a difference-maker that benefits the lives of my family, my friends, and the values I cherish.
It’s not fear-based, as Francis’ quote suggests, but I get his point… and it’s a good one.
Boots & Boogie
Our Boots & Boogie County Night is this coming Friday. I’ll be looking for good-looking cowboy hats, big silver belt buckles, and the sound of boots on the dance floor.
Line Dancing Lessons will begin at 4:30pm, but even if you come later, I’m sure there will be someone kind enough to show you a step or two. Nitro Express will be playing their country best from 5:30-9:30pm.
Our kitchen will be serving off the menu and also offering a dinner special of ribs, beans, and mashed taters! Ummm-good!
Be sure to make your reservations by calling the office at 760-724-1968.
Parking Lot Donations
Did you know we’re raising funds to surface our parking lot? You can see our status thermometer by the Greeter’s Station and the entrance of the lodge. We’re making progress but can use your help.
If you’re able to contribute any amount, please call our lodge office and let us know. You can make your contribution over the phone or in person.
Special Dates To Be Aware Of
February 3 – PER Night
The first Thursday in February will be PER Night. Our Past Exalted Ruler will be running the meeting. All members are invited to join us for this once-a-year event.
After the meeting, we will have casual reception in honor of our PERs. We’ll have light sandwiches and a cake. The meeting starts immediately after Steak Night. I hope you can make it!
February 11 – Annual Sweetheart Ball
Friday night February 11th is our Annual Sweetheart Ball. This is the Friday night closest to Valentine’s Day and the night we crown our new Sweetheart of the Year!
Breezing’ will be bringing their 6-piece band and playing from 5:30-9:30pm. Make your reservations today and plan to join us!
February 13 – Super Bowl
We’re having a Super Bowl Potluck on Sunday the 13th at 3pm. We’ll have all our TVs showing the game so there won’t be a bad seat in the house.
As this is a potluck we’re asking members to bring a dish or two to share. Guests are also welcome but you’ll need to sign them in as usual.
February 20 – Daytona Sunday
While the NFL ends their season with the biggest game of the year, NASCAR starts their season with the biggest race of the year… The Daytona 500!
The 500 has seen as many as 200,000 attendees for the race, making it more than twice as big as the Super Bowl by attendance, with an estimated 500,000 people flooding into the city!
We will be showing the race in the Social Quarters starting at 11am. Breakfast is served from 8:30-12:00pm so you can order food that way or potluck it later in the afternoon. I’m sure we won’t go hungry!
Tech Person (A/V) Help
Are you familiar with running PowerPoint presentations and setting up microphones? We can use your help on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month. It’s a pretty simple way to volunteer if you only have a few hours available each month.
Even if you can only help once a month, I’d love to hear from you. Please reply to this email or call or text me directly at 760-410-8040.
Have a great week!
