Monday Motivation “I’m so proud of you. I just wanted to tell you in case no one has.” – Anonymous“ I’m proud of you” is such a wonderful thing to hear. Regardless of whether it’s from a parent, a spouse, a coach, a co-worker, or a friend, it’s nice to know someone notices you and cares. I want you to know that Vista Elks Lodge has been noticed by our community and the Vista Chamber of Commerce, specifically. The Vista Chamber, Member & Community Engagement Director, R. Kent Leithold, emailed me with the following message: “The Vista Elks Lodge #1968 has been selected as an award finalist in the Non-Profit of the Year category for the 11th Annual Heroes of Vista event. Heroes of Vista, as I hope you know, is a gala fundraiser and community awards presentation. This year, we are pleased that the event will be held in person at The Vistonian [on Friday, March 18th]. The awardees will be announced that evening! “Non-Profit of the Year nominee! That’s a tribute to the many volunteers who give their time and energy to benefit our community. It may sound trite but just to be nominated is an honor. We will know the results at the event which is in March, but the “winner” is our community that is being well served by non-profits like our lodge .I’m so proud of you and I just wanted to tell you! Open Seven Days A Week! We’re now open for lunch Monday through Saturday! This is huge for us! Come by the lodge between 11am and 2pm and enjoy some good lodge cooking. And while you’re here, say hi to Ralph, our new Sunday through Tuesday daytime cook. Boots & Boogie Boots & Boogie was so well received last month that we’ll be doing it again this coming Friday, February 25th.Our kitchen got slammed and that caused our serving times to go long but we have a solution for this month… instead of the open menu, we will have three dining options for you to choose from Roasted Chicken, Pulled Pork Sandwiches, and Steaks. Having three options instead of a full menu will greatly speed up the serving times. Will we start at 4:30pm with dance lessons like we did last month. Nitro Express will again be playing their country music from 5:30-9:30pm. Make sure it’s on your calendar! Mardi Gras Night Mardi Gras falls on Thursday night, March 1st and we’re having a party. I know… any excuse for a party! Chef James is making Fried Catfish, Dirty Rice, Cajun Coleslaw, and Hush Puppies! Mel will be behind the bar and making your favorite beverages. And Restless Natives will be bringing the live music to keep the party active. As they say in the Big East… “Laissez les bons temps rouler!” Tuesday Dinner This Tuesday features a gourmet 5-Cheese Grilled Cheese sandwich, with a homemade Tomato Bisque soup and a bag of chips. Just $10! Have a great week! ER David |
