Monday Motivation“Don’t let the fear of losing be greater than the excitement of winning.” – Robert Kiyosaki

With just over 2 weeks left as ER of this wonderful lodge, I can’t help but be a little reflective. When I became the Exalted Ruler, fewer than 18 months had passed since my Initiation into the Order.

Needless to say, I wasn’t entirely sure of what it all meant to be an ER. The fear of the unknown could have caused me to decline the nomination, causing me to let the opportunity pass until sometime in the future… if the opportunity would come my way a second time.

Thankfully, I accepted the nomination, and my life as an Elk (and ER) has been filled with many delightful moments. One of those moments will be this Friday when the Heroes of Vista select the Non-Profit of the Year, of which Vista Elks Lodge is one of the three finalists.

I also get to represent our Lodge at the Officer Installations around the District that begin this week, starting with the Santee/Lakeside Lodge.

I look forward with excitement at every opportunity to represent the members of our lodge… an honor I would not have been able to have if my fear had been greater than my excitement.

Invitation to Thursday Night
The previous section is a great segue for me to personally invite you to our Thursday night lodge meeting. Not only will we be initiating new members, but I will also be awarding the Elk, Officer, and Citizen of the year.

At the end of the meeting, I will give my final thoughts and thanks to the lodge for an unusual (due to COVID) and amazing two years as ER.

The meeting starts at 7pm sharp. Come early for Steak Night and stay for the meeting. I hope to see you.

Membership Cards and Guests
Starting on April 1st, you will need your new membership card to gain access to the lodge, of dinners and events. You will continue to use your current card through Thursday, March 31st.To receive your new card, stop by the office and pay your membership dues for the next year.

Reminder: When you bring guests to the lodge, they cannot gain entrance or be seated until you arrive, and they must leave when you leave. These are Grand Lodge rules. And obviously, all Elks must show their membership card to enter the lodge or when asked by the Greeter, regardless of how long you have been an Elk.

I always show my membership card… and my photo is on the wall!

Open For Lunch Don’t forget we’re open for lunch all week long, Monday through Saturday, 11am-2pm.

Tuesday Dinner

Tomorrow night’s dinner will be Shepherd’s Pie with steamed veggies for $12. Restless Natives will begin the evening with an acoustic set before building the energy later in the evening.

Wednesday Night

Wednesday night will be a special Corned Beef, Cabbage, and Karaoke St. Patrick’s Day Eve Party… quite possibly the longest event title of the year! Break out your green outfits and join us.

Have a great week!
ER David
