UPDATEIn yesterday’s Monday email, I forgot to mention that there was an error in the June Bulletin. The bulletin shows Tri-Tip Tuesday happening on June 8… today.  That was a type-o.  The correct date is Tuesday, July 20.  The Lodge will not be open for food & beverage today.

Monday Motivation
“The only difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra.” – Jimmy Johnson (NFL coach and sports analyst)

Vista, CA –I’ve been away on vacation for the past couple of weeks traveling to the great Pacific Northwest.  It was a restful and enjoyable time visiting family and friends.

On my travels, I can tell you that the establishments I went to that impressed me the most were the ones that did the little things the best.  Flashy gimmicks may capture your attention like a “flash in the pan” but consistent attention to the little details of quality leaves a long-lasting impression.

Memorial Day Thank Yous – Even though I was out of town, I received many comments about our wonderful Lodge Memorial Day Celebration.  We had a huge crowd and the event was a great success.

THANK YOU to the Lodge Trustees and tradesmen who worked to renovate our beautiful RV Patio, the Memorial Day cooks, bartenders, servers, raffle runners, Ladies of the Lodge, Dave Slottje (Chaplain), and Col. John Telles (special speaker), who all helped make the day so special. Your efforts are much appreciated!

Flag DayThis coming Sunday, June 13, we will be presenting our special Flag Day Ceremony at 11am.  Flag Day has been a part of Elkdom for more than a century.  It is at the core of who we are, along with charity.

I am asking all Elks to join us on Sunday for a presentation that I know you will find both moving and meaningful.  A number of our Lodge Officers will be assisting in the presentation, along with the North San Diego Young Marines.  Bring your friends and family.  This event is open to the public.

Following the ceremony we will be having a Lodge picnic on the Beasley and Garden patios. We will be featuring hot dogs, handmade hamburgers, hand-cut fries, etc. The cost is just $10 per person for the picnic.  The ceremony is free!

NOTE: Due to the Flag Day Ceremony, there will be no breakfast on Sunday, June 13.  I’ll see you at 11am.

House Committee and Board of Director’s Meetings
This month’s House and Board meetings scheduled for this coming Thursday night have been postponed until July.

Have a great week!
ER David
