Foundation for Women Warriors Receives Grant from San Diego Foundation, Offers Childcare Assistance
May 26, 2021 – SAN DIEGO – Foundation for Women Warriors announced today that they received a $35,250 grant from the San Diego Foundation in order to help provide relief to our women veterans and their families.
Jodie Grenier, CEO of Foundation for Women Warriors, shares, “We are incredibly grateful for The San Diego Foundation’s continued support in providing relief throughout the pandemic to our women veterans and their families. The San Diego Foundation has provided us $35,250 in grant support to ensure our veteran families in San Diego have access to rental assistance, childcare, and other services through our emergency services program. The San Diego Foundation maximizes the impact of charitable giving by mobilizing philanthropic resources to advance quality of life, increase social impact, and champion civic engagement.”
As workplaces reopen and children are not in school for the summer, Foundation for Women Warriors expects to see an increased demand for childcare assistance. The nonprofit provides stipends to offset costs for licensed childcare providers so that the veterans are able to gain and maintain employment and or pursue a college degree or certificate program.
Foundation for Women Warriors is the only organization in California solely dedicated to serving women veterans and their families. The Childcare Assistance program honors the service and empowers the economic stability and well-being of the women veteran community. Approximately 70% of the veterans that Foundation for Women Warriors serves are single mothers. As childcare facilities and providers re-open and children are not anticipated to return to school until the fall, Foundation for Women Warriors’ Childcare Assistance program ensures that women veteran mothers are able to attain and maintain employment by providing childcare stipends for daycare, after-school care as well as spring, summer, and winter camps for working or student veteran mothers.
