San Diego—San Diego’s favorite fall and holiday celebration, the Harvest Festival, returns for the 42nd year with affordable family fun, entertainment, and shopping on October 17– 19, 2014, at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.

High-Quality Handmade American Art and Crafts, Food, Live Entertainment, and Fun for the Whole Family

For more than four decades, the Harvest Festival has been the biggest and best holiday art and craft show in the San Diego area. Families from all over the region come to enjoy affordable American handmade crafts, great food, and fun entertainment.

More than 300 artists and craftspeople—many new to the show—will offer unique American handmade works, including Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas décor, handmade wearable art, photography, garden decorations, hand-turned wood, unique holiday gifts, ceramics, jewelry, children’s toys, and much more. All products in the show are American-made, and chosen by a jury.

Families enjoy the live entertainment at the Harvest Festival, which includes live bands, stilt walkers, comedy juggling, and the beloved “horsey guys” comedy duo.

KIDZONE… Home Depot Carmel Mountain returns this year to host its Kids’ Workshop, teaching do-ityourself skills and tool safety for youngsters at the complimentary Kidzone. All proceeds from voluntary donations will benefit nonprofit partner Mama’s Kitchen. Plus, anyone bringing a nonperishable food item to Mama’s Kitchen will receive a $2 discount on one general or senior admission.

Also returning is Nature of Art kids’ arts and crafts, who will be offering fun and free kids’ painting and crafts projects adjacent to the Home Depot booth.

LIVE ENTERTAINMENT ….Some new acts will be premiering in Del Mar this year, including Captain Jack Spareribs and the Doo Wah Riders. NONPROFIT COMMUNITY PARTNERS:

GREYHOUND ADOPTION CENTER  – The Greyhound Adoptions Center is a local nonprofit organization that has been saving greyhounds for more than 30 years in the San Diego area. They have rescued around 6,000 dogs from racetracks, animal shelters and farms. These beautiful, gentle “45 mile-per-hour couch potatoes” retire at no more than 4 years old and make wonderful and loyal pets. Look for them greeting attendees at the gate, where they will benefit from donations and proceeds from the Parcel Check and Bag Sales booth.

MAMA’S KITCHEN  –  Returning this year to benefit from the Kidzone is Mama’s Kitchen. The tireless volunteers at this San Diego organization believe that every person is entitled to the basic necessity of life— nutritious food. Formed in 1990 as a volunteer-driven, nonprofit organization, Mama’s Kitchen delivers three nutritional meals a day, seven days a week, at no charge to men, women and children living with AIDS or cancer. Additionally, Mama’s Kitchen provides pantry services (Mama’s Pantry) to people affected by AIDS, providing food, compassion, and hope to more than 1,200 people annually throughout San Diego County.

At the Del Mar Harvest Festival, Mama’s Kitchen will be taking orders for their fabulous homemade pies, just in time for delivery for the holidays, in one of their biggest fundraisers of the year.

TOPS FOR TOTS  –  In Del Mar’s outdoor area, look for the very popular San Diego Woodturners booth. In addition to demonstrating the woodturning techniques and skills that create their beautiful wooden items, this local nonprofit group will be turning holiday tops on the spot, with a suggested donation benefiting Toys for Tots.

GIVEAWAY AND PRIZES Daily Grab Bag Drawing  –  Two lucky customers will win $50 in Harvey Bucks to spend at the show. Drawings are each day at the stage at 3 p.m. You must be at least 18 years old and present at the stage to win. Attendees may visit www.harvestfestival.com to download an entry form and deposit the form in the drawing bin near the stage.

Win an iPad Mini   –  An iPad mini will be given away Sunday afternoon! Complete and deposit a Drawing Form at the raffle booth near the front entrance. There will be one drawing only, on Sunday at 3 p.m. at the stage. You must be at least 18 years old, but do not need to be present to win.
