David A. Willauer-Contributing Writer-Pacific Ridge 18 Coastal Academy 7 Pacific Ridge Collin Roselle a triple; Owen Beim winning pitcher pitched 5 innings and 10 strikeouts.

Oceanside 7 Valley Center 3 Oceanside’s Cannon Belew had 3 triples. Winning pitcher Allen Perez pitched 6 innings and struck out 8 batters. 

Marantha Christian 6 Oceanside 2 Pirate performers Jaden Kealacki had two singles and two RBI’s; Devin Castro a single

El Camino 5 Maranantha Christian 1  El Camino one double each by Michael Oliver and winning pitcher Michael Villani pitched 7 innings and recorded 12 strikeouts. 

La Costa Canyon 3 Rancho Bernardo 1 – In a battle of San Diego ranked high school teams that was played on LaCosta Canyon’s home field, the Mavericks at 12-3 pulled off one of the biggest wins today as they defeated the previously undefeated and top ranked Broncos of Rancho Bernardo at 14-1 by a 3-1 score. 

Rancho Bernardo scored their only run in the Broncos top of the 4th as Kevin Tagushi doubled and scored on Trent Abel’s RBI single to take a 1-0 lead.  

La Costa Canyon tied the game in the bottom 4th at 1-1 as Maverick Jake Woltman went 2 for 3 at the plate, hit a 2-0 slider over the fence for a home run. 

The Mavericks scored 2 more runs in the bottom of the 6th as Gabe Camacho’s 2 RBI single scoring Mark Prince and Jake Woltman to making the final score 3-1 in favor of LaCosta Canyon.

LaCosta Canyon Head Baseball Coach Justin Machado:  “We faced one of the best pitchers on the mound (Craig Rothermel), after our loss vs. San Marcos we got 8 hits off a top notch pitcher which makes me happy.”
” After Jake Woltman tied the game with the home run at 1-1; I was thinking it’s still going to be a good ball game as all of our losses have been 1 run.”  “Gabe Camacho who is a sophomore went to a plate with a great approach got the hit which is good experience for him.” said Coach Machado.

Cooper Dulich is the winner for LaCosta Canyon pitching 2 innings and recorded 2 strikeouts. Craig Rothemel is the loser for Rancho Bernardo as he pitched for 6 innings gave up 8 hits 3 runs 3 earned 6 strikeouts.

San Marcos 14 Canyon Crest 0 San Marcos Noah Lazuka and Ryan Rivera each doubled; Kyle Harvey hit a home run.

Classical Academy 5 Torrey Pines 4 Classical Academy Tyler Alanis and Binyam Gebhart each doubled.

Mission Hills 2 Vista 1 Mission Hills Dillon Mihalick and Quincy Scott each had a double; Vista’s Matt Draves a double. Mission Hills Cody Delvecchio gets the win for the Grizzlies.

Escondido Charter 6 El Cajon Valley 0 El Cajon Valley Damien Cisneros had two doubles, and a double each by Diego Pena and Jackson Noaker.

Vanderbilt 7 Austin Peay 0 LaCosta Canyon alum Spencer Jones a single and a run scored.

Arizona 11 New Mexico State 4 San Marcos alum Jacob Blas a walk, RBI, scored a run.

Brigham Young 3 Dixie State 2 El Camino alum Jack Gonzales pitched one inning and had a strikeout. 

San Francisco Giants 6-Philadelphia Phillies 5 Mickey Moniak 3 run homer for the Philadelphia Phillies as they defeated the San Francisco Giants.

San Francisco Giants 10 Philadelphia Phillies 7 LaCosta Canyon alum Mickey Moniak a single and scored a run.

Pittsburgh Pirates 3 Detroit Tigers 2 LaCosta Canyon alum Phil Evans had 2 singles and a run for the Pirates.

Detroit Tigers 5 Pittsburgh 2 La Costa Canyon alum Phil Evans had a solo home run.
