No injuries. Tips wanted on incidents.

The Sheriff’s Bomb/Arson Unit is investigating several explosions that occurred in Vista on Wednesday, May 4.

Deputies with the Vista Sheriff’s Station responded to the following locations after receiving calls about an explosion.

  • 11:30 a.m. in the 900 block of East Vista Way
  • 1:24 p.m. in the 100 block of E. East Drive
  • 2:41 p.m. in the 400 block of East Drive

The explosions occurred in open areas and parking lots with no obvious target or motivation. Two small fires were started by the explosions, but were quickly extinguished. No one was hurt and there was no damage to property. No roads were closed or evacuations were ordered.

If you see a device that seems suspicious or out of place in your neighborhood, do not touch, move or pick it up. Call 9-1-1 immediately.

Sheriff’s Bomb/Arson Unit routinely investigates these incidents in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

At this time, we cannot provide a description of the device, other than it was homemade, to avoid jeopardizing the ongoing investigation.
