David A. Willauer-Contributing Writer-Warriors Stadium-Fallbrook High School-Fallbrook, CA-Thursday, April 27, 2022: In a very close San Diego Section boys lacrosse contest that thought it would go either way, the 20th (SD Section) ranked Fallbrook Warriors once again did battle against the 28th(SD Section) ranked Bobcats of Sage Creek High School as the outcome was different as expected but the Warriors won by a 16-2 score.
Boys Head Lacrosse Coach Ryan Farish on the win:”It was a great game as our squad finished strong with good runs from the first quarter to the rest of game we finished it off.”
“Jake Woodworth (5 goals 3 assists) is an excellent player I wanted him to work on his shots to the nets along with passing and making plays.” “Defensively we did a great job at protecting the nets and keeping everybody off which is easy for our goalie Trent Urqhart who stopped the shots and made key saves in the net for us.”said Coach Farish.
“Cole Tenger (3 goals in the game) did well on the faceoffs he only lost 2 of them as he is well over 80 % along with teammate John Downey (3 goals) had a great game today.” said Coach Farrish
“Trent Urqhart (9 saves) did well in the nets has picked this game up this season, he played well saw the ball great, earlier in a scrimmage earlier he has improved on stick skills which continued on into the game.” said Coach Farrish
“We felt good after snapping a 3 game losing streak, it’s good to get back on the winning side hopefully we will carry that momentum throughout the rest of the season going in the CIF San Diego Section Playoffs.”said Coach Farrish Fallbrook at 11-5 was led by Jake Woodworth with 5 goals and 3 assists, John Downey and Cole Tenger each with 3 goals 2 each by Preston McCarthy, 1 each by James Jones, Max Pollard and Ty Craven. Goalie Trent Urqhart recorded 9 saves in the nets.
Jake Woodworth on his 5 goals 3 assists for Fallbrook” “It was a great team effort as we played hard tonight, it’s not all about me we are focused as a team and stepped up at our school” ” Tonight my fundamentals were my under and overhand shots which is important along with the amount of time you spend with your stick in practice as you improve each game.” :I made some mistakes on my passes which converted to some turnovers.”
Sage Creek at 12-3 was paced with one goal each by Cole Maston and Jack Kelley. Liam Gray recorded 13 saves in the nets.
