
Just in Time for Foster Youth recently gained a new Board Member John T. Armantrout. Just in Time for Foster Youth (JIT) is a nonprofit that serves young people out of the foster care system after age 18 who leave without a safety net or a family to assist with their transition to adulthood. JIT provides a community of support to help these young adults stay on the path to self-sufficiency. Serving nearly 1,600 youth annually, JIT is focused on stable housing, essential education, meaningful employment, financial security, reliable transportation, positive connections, confidence, and well-being.
John is currently the Navy Cybersecurity Program Manager. He has over 35 years in the US Navy active duty and civilian service and has served in multiple technical, engineering, and program management positions. John’s career has focused on Program and Portfolio Management, Stakeholder Engagement / Communications, Budget Planning / Analysis, Leadership / Mentoring, Tactical and Strategic Planning, System Engineering, Cross-Cultural Management, New Technology Adoption, and Software / Hardware Development.
Mr. Armantrout is a Distinguished Military Graduate in Aerospace Engineering from Purdue University. He has earned three Masters degrees: Aerospace Engineering, Physics, and Business Administration. He is Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) Program Management Level III certified (PMP equivalent), a certified Cybersecurity leader (GSLC) and a member of the Department of Defense Acquisition Corps.
John’s passion is helping children to have hope in their everyday lives. He started down this path over twenty years ago with his husband and has not turned back. After becoming certified as a treatment-level Foster Parent, John continued training and research in the areas of psychology, medications and mainstream/alternative treatment options. His family includes two amazing young men that now have a future full of hope and opportunity. John also hopes to continue his education and begin his PhD in Psychology soon. This advanced degree will allow him to better understand foster and adoptive children and young adults and provide future opportunities for leadership of organizations that help children.
