San Diego, CA – Just in Time for Foster Youth (JIT), a nonprofit organization dedicated to engaging a caring community to help transition-age foster youth achieve self-sufficiency and well-being, has partnered with group of anonymous angel investors from the San Diego business community (entrepreneurs, publishers, CEOs) to provide a life-changing business investment to twenty-four-year-old former foster youth Stephany Polanco.
Polanco pitched an original business plan for her company Sweet Experiences at Just in Time’s annual Shark Tank competition in September. Her business idea couples event planning and boutique baking to provide highly curated and intimate experiences for couples and small groups throughout the San Diego area. She won third place at the Shark Tank competition, but that placement opened the door to an even greater opportunity – the chance to refine her business plan and access professional mentorship in the quest to win an additional $20,000 worth of seed money from an anonymous group of angel investors.

Over the course of two months, each youth competitor committed to an intensive coaching schedule with the Angel Investors – meeting weekly to discuss and expand upon all aspects of their business plans including strategy, finances, marketing, and liabilities. In the end, Stephany, the third-place runner-up at the Shark Tank competition rose above her competitors to claim the $20K prize.
She will be presented with a check from Just in Time’s CEO Don Wells and Angel Investor representative Mike Lamb at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, November 22nd at Dolce in Rancho Santa Fe.
