Vista, CA        Here’s a gift that requires no fancy wrapping paper, ribbons or bows: you can keep North County arts alive and support local artists by donating to ArtBeat on Main Street’s GoFundMe campaign at https://www.gofundme.com/artbeat.

The “Keep ArtBeat’s Heart Beating,” campaign by the wildly popular but financially challenged coop gallery and wine lounge in Vista was created by sole proprietor Kate Matthews to raise $7,000 to cover the rising cost of rent and operations, and surmount what Matthews calls “a wee hiccup” while it seeks corporate and private sponsorship that will allow it to stabilize, grow and thrive.ArtBeat Kait Matthews1

Matthews notes, “In just three and one-half years, we have been able to showcase fine local artists, shine a bright light on Vista’s historic downtown business district, offer enriching classes and workshops to professional and neophyte artists, partner with area nonprofits and, perhaps most significantly, provide a genuine sense of community; a place that welcomes and nurtures all. Having strongly supported the community, we now ask for its support to get us over our financial hump.”

The campaign was launched on December 16, 2015. In its first two days, 26 people donated a total of $1,515, giving ArtBeat a good start toward achieving its required total of $7,000. More is needed.

Matthews says, “I’m filled with gratitude at the generosity of ArtBeat aficionados, and overwhelmed by the heartfelt comments attached to the donations. One contributor wrote, ‘I LOVE this gallery. It needs to stay in our community.’ We greatly appreciate that sentiment and hope many others agree and show their love by helping to keep our heart beating!”

ArtBeat on Main Street co-op gallery and wine lounge is located at 330 Main Street in downtown ViArtBeat Gallery2sta. It is open Tuesday–Saturday, 11:00am-9:30pm, and Sunday, Noon-4:30pm.
