Lori Butler Lt Gov.

Lori Butler, 2016-2017 Lt Gov for Kiwanis Division 37 which is made up of 19 clubs, Cal Nev Ha District of Kiwanis Intl.  Lori is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Sunrise Vista of Vista CA. Lori is the 6th Lt Gov to come from the Kiwanis Club of Sunrise Vista and previous Lt Governors have been Harry Lauder (1985/86), Tommy Thomson  (1988/89)

Dan Regan (1998/99), Newell Debail (2006/07) and Carl Ames (2014/2015).

 

 Doug Regin informed the club members of the lesser known facts about the history of the San Luis Mission. Father Antonio Peyri was in charge of Mission San Luis Rey, from the day of it's founding on June 13, 1798, until his departure in January 1832. The buildings were constructed of adobe, fired clay bricks and wooden timbers, and by 1830, the Mission was the largest building in California. From 1847 to 1857, the Mission was used as an operational base by US soldiers. In 1865, Mission San Luis Rey was returned to the Catholic Church by Abraham Lincoln. The Mission, 18th in the chain, was named by the Spanish Viceroy after King Louis IX of Franc, a 13th century saint and patron of the Franciscan. THE KING OF THE MISSIONS www.sanluisrey.org
