Free Online Business Courses

The City of Vista has partnered with Strategies 360 to offer two free online courses for business. The first course, Entrepreneur Bootcamp, provides new and aspiring Vista business owners lessons on how to prepare for and/or launch a new enterprise. The second course, Business Accelerator, provides small business owners lessons on how to grow and expand their business, identify new customers, improve their online and social media presence, and more. Both courses allow entrepreneurs to watch videos on-demand and proceed at their own pace.

Live Entertainment Permit Fees Waived! The City has received federal American Rescue Plan Act Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (CSLFRF) to respond to the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency and its negative economic impacts. As a part of this program, the City is offering to waive the Live Entertainment permit fees for qualified businesses. This one-time waiver covers the permit fees for the period through June 30, 2024. 

To receive this fee waiver, a complete Live Entertainment Permit Package including a list of all employees and a proof of their Responsible Beverage Service training needs to be submitted to Sara Trench at strench@cityofvista.com

Cybersecurity is now everyone’s business!

The FBI reports a 300% increase in cybercrimes across all industries during the pandemic with the average cost of a data breach climbing over $4 million! More than half of these costly attacks are aimed at small businesses and supply chains – our region’s economic engine.

The Cities of Carlsbad and Vista invite local small businesses to participate in the North County Cybersecurity Awareness Program. The Cities are partnering with Cyber Center of Excellence (CCOE) to help small businesses increase their cybersecurity awareness and preparedness to bolster the region’s economic resiliency. The program is FREE to participating small North County businesses, made possible by grants from the Cities of Carlsbad and Vista.

Detailed cybersecurity risk assessment from MasterCard’s RiskRecon.
Cybersecurity awareness training for up to 100 employees from ESET.
