Escondido, CA –Luminary Arts brings Toe-Tapping Country Music to the Stage with “Honky Tonk Laundry” November 11-20.
Move over Thelma and Louise! When Lana Mae Hopkins, owner and proprietress of the Wishy Washy Washateria hires Katie Lane Murphy to help out in the laundromat, they soon find themselves up to their elbows in soap, suds, and cheatin’ hearts. Luminary Arts is pleased to present this hilarious country jukebox musical by Roger Bean (The Marvelous Wonderettes, Life Could Be a Dream) at the Patio Playhouse Theater November 11-20. Honky Tonk Laundry features country music favorites by Carrie Underwood, Trisha Yearwood, Martina McBride, Sara Evans, The Chicks, Chely Wright, Dolly Parton, Pam Tillis, Gretchen Wilson, Terri Clark, Tammy Wynette, Patsy Cline, and our dear recently departed Loretta Lynn.

“This area (North County San Diego) has a lot of country music fans, including myself.” says cast member Amy Throckmorton (Lana Mae Hopkins) “We are hoping to draw in a community that does not always think the theater is for them. This show is tons of fun, and our audience will likely recognize most of the songs. I sure did. It’s a hoot!”
A two-woman show, Honky Tonk Laundry also stars local favorite, Keri Miller, and features a live band headed by none other than her husband, Chris Miller. The Millers have been a mainstay in San Diego County local theater for years. Honky Tonk Laundry is a reunion of sorts for Throckmorton and the Millers, who were previously seen together in Luminary Art’s 2019’s production of “Songs for a New World” and 2018’s production of “The Great American Trailer Park Musical”.
