A beloved aunt and friend, she passed away, age 84, in the home of her niece. She brought a rich tapestry of songs, games, and love of sports, into our lives. Her common sense and constant support will be missed by all those who knew her. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022, will be at the home of Julie and Franck Valles.

Marla Ann Dotson was born on the 6th of Dec, 1937 in Groveport Ohio. The last of eight brothers and sisters, she was also the last to leave us on the 6th of April, 2022. She is preceded in death by said brothers and sisters; LaMar, Lois, Audrey, Bud, Rose, Al, and Mary Lou. Marla is survived by a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews…all of whom loved her very very much.

She was an avid sports fan cheering on her Padres, Buckeyes, Aztecs and Clemson Tigers. (She used to cheer on the Chargers but that ended abruptly when they left SD)

Marla worked for the federal government for more than 36 years. She began her career in 1956 in the Army Engineering Maintenance Center in Columbus, Ohio and then moved on to Washington D.C. where she served in the Office of the Chief of Civil Engineers. After various jobs in and around the country, (with many years spent in Honolulu Hawaii at Fort Shafter) she moved to California, working at Camp Pendleton until she began her long association with Naval Air Station, Miramar where she worked in Admin and then moved to the Engineering Division of the Public Works Department. Marla worked as the Executive Secretary to the Commanding Officer at Southwest Division in the Engineering Field Division for the last ten years of her career. She retired to Vista, California in 1998 to be closer to her family.
