About the Artists |
Sasha Masakowski has been a leading voice on the New Orleans music scene since 2009 when she was awarded “Best Emerging Artist” by the Big Easy Association. She has performed at major clubs and festivals across the United States and abroad, touring with a range of groups from traditional New Orleans jazz to electronic and world music. Vanity Fair Magazine listed her as one of the top emerging jazz musicians and Downbeat Magazine named Sasha among the most innovative musicians coming out of New Orleans to date. Steve Masakowski has long been regarded as one of the top jazz artists from New Orleans. Born and raised in New Orleans, he has played guitar with some of the city’s greatest musicians including Alvin “Red” Tyler, Ellis Marsalis, Danny Barker, Earl Turbinton, and James Black. He has also performed with GRAMMY Award-winning artists Bobby McFerrin, Nicholas Payton, Allen Toussaint, Dianne Reeves, and others at major festivals around the world. Bassist Martin Masakowski was born and raised in New Orleans. He studied music at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts and went on to study jazz at the University of New Orleans. He moved to the Netherlands to finish his music degree at the Rotterdam Conservatory, and spent the following years touring with Eastern European folk band the Balcony Players. With them he performed in over 20 countries in Europe. |
