Neighbors Rally At Vista Park To Support Re-election Of Katie Melendez

VISTA, CA- Rally to re-elect Katie Melendez was held at Bub Williamson Park, Vista, this past Saturday, May 4th. The Community Kick-Off Event event was attended by a broad coalition of supporters such as elected officials, volunteers, and neighbors who committed their vote to Katie Melendez.

Katie Melendez was joined by family, including brother, David Melendez, who is a professional singer and sang the National Anthem at the start of the event. 

Attending the event was Oceanside Mayor Esther Sanchez who spoke in support of Katie Melendez, “we need her advocating for us,” Sanchez said. As Oceanside’s first Latina Mayor and attorney of 30 years, Esther Sanchez endorsed Katie Melendez.

Katie Melendez shared updates about her public service. “I kept my promises to the voters and I delivered on affordable housing, clean energy, and infrastructure,” Melendez said. “I’m running for re-election to continue progress in Vista.”

Attendees pointed out key initiatives Katie Melendez has spearheaded during her first term, including the installation of speed humps, the ban of pesticides in parks, and addressing homelessness. “I am particularly grateful for her work on homelessness,” Jennifer Ianoale, a constituent and volunteer said, “She has courageously pioneered programs like safe parking and rental assistance.”
