COVID-19 Update
As you know, our community is experiencing the highest rate of new COVID-19 positive infections and hospitalizations of the pandemic. This is significantly impacting hospitals throughout Southern California, including Tri-City Medical Center. To put this into perspective, in late October, Tri-City consistently treated an average of 9 COVID-positive inpatients per day at the medical center. In recent weeks, we have been treating an average of 75 COVID-positive inpatients per day at the medical center and those numbers continue to follow a concerning upward trend.
In December, Tri-City Medical Center received an allotment of COVID-19 vaccine from both Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna in sufficient numbers to vaccinate front-line healthcare workers and we have already vaccinated or scheduled to vaccinate all team members who have chosen to receive it. This is a very important measure to help protect our front-line healthcare workforce, especially as hospitals throughout the state continue to face staffing shortages.
As we have throughout the pandemic, Tri-City Medical Center continues to manage our available resources responsibly to protect access to care for those in need. We encourage you to remain vigilant and continue to follow common sense measures including physical distancing, mask wearing and regular hand washing.
