And what a success it was! College programs, apprenticeships, job opportunities and job interviewing tips were just a few of the numerous topics being discussed during North County Trade High School’s annual College and Career Day held on October 15th. Students participated in College and Career Day activities by choosing three presentations that provided them the unique opportunity to connect directly with local employers and post-secondary educational providers. Students selected the presentations that interested them the most from a list of 9 different career path seminars. All juniors and seniors were required to go to a presentation by the HG Fenton Company’s recruitment team (shown in picture) in order to get tips and advice directly from HR personnel. One student who attended the Associated General Contractors seminar remarked, “I really liked learning about apprenticeships.” Another student who attended the ITT Technical Institute presentation said he “…enjoyed hearing the presenter compare past and future technologies.” But the enjoyment didn’t stop there because after the presentations were concluded the entire school was treated to a delicious BBQ lunch cooked outdoors by Principal Phil Lutgen.
North County Trade Tech High School is very appreciative to the following local businesses and institutes of higher learning who took the time to speak with our students: AEROTEK, Associated General Contractors, Design Institute of San Diego, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), HG Fenton Company, ITT Technical Institute, Kaplan College, and New School of Architecture & Design (NSAD). Trade Tech hosts two career days each school year.
