Marine Debris Reduction Ordinance

The City of Oceanside has partnered with MainStreet Oceanside to provide in-person and virtual educational workshops focused on educating downtown businesses on the new Marine Debris restrictions.

The new Ordinance specifically addresses polystyrene foam and single-use plastic bags. All retail establishments and food service providers in Oceanside will be required to find sustainable alternatives to these products. Additionally, all businesses will be required to post educational materials about the Marine Debris Reduction Ordinance requirements for at least one year after each of the prohibitions take effect. Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside Partner with San Diego Foundation to Help Combat the Summer Slide

(Source: The Boys and Girls Clubs of Oceanside) – The Boys and Girls Clubs of Oceanside announce their fun and innovative summer program, “Passport to Adventure,” designed to provide children in our community with opportunities for growth, exploration, and learning.

This program is made possible by a generous grant from San Diego Foundation. Thanks to their support, they will offer a diverse range of activities, including STREAM (Science, Technology, Research, Engineering, Arts, and Math) programs, as well as various enrichment, recreational, and career empowerment activities. “Passport to Adventure” offers kids a summer of exploration, creativity, and fun, with activities ranging from nature hikes to science experiments. Scholarships are available to help insure every child has the opportunity to attend. More details

SDDCU’s Miracle Month of May

(Source: SDCCU) – San Diego County Credit Union, one of Southern California’s largest locally-owned financial institutions, is collecting monetary donations for two children’s hospitals in Southern California to celebrate the Miracle Month of May.

Donations collected will help provide essential medical care for children at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego and Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC). Donations can be made in-branch or online through May 31. More details
