Shawn Hobson….The Oceanside High School football team defeated crosstown rival El Camino 23-14 in the CIF San Diego Section Division I championship game played at Southwestern College in Chula Vista on Friday night.

It’s the Pirates (9-4) second consecutive CIF title, but first under new head coach David Rodriguez who replaced longtime coach John Carroll. It’s the 16th championship for Oceanside High, the most football titles for a school in section history. The 2015 title game marked the first time Oceanside and El Camino (7-6) met in the championship game.
