The Sunset Market is kicking off the first-ever O’side Mardi Gras Thursday with Mardi Gras Night at the Sunset Market. From 5-9 p.m. on Pier View Way west of North Coast Highway, enjoy live Zydeco and blues music by the Bayou Brothers, festive Mardi Gras giveaways and activities, and vendor specials at decorated booths at this new family-friendly event.Starting at 5 p.m., stop by the Information Booth at the center of the market at Pier View Way and Tremont Street to receive free Mardi Gras beads (one per guest while supplies last) and O’side Mardi Gras event info. The first 100 booth visitors will also receive a free Mardi Gras mask! In addition, Oside Handmade will be offering a mask making activity in the Dorothy’s Military Shop and Laundry lot. Mardi Gras Night entertainment and activity
Bayou Brothers With a sound straight out of Louisiana’s dance clubs, bayou festivals and backyard crawfish boils, San Diego’s favorite Zydeco band will rock Downtown Oceanside right on into O’side Mardi Gras. A blend of accordion, keyboards, guitar, bass, drums and rubboard — mixed up with Zydeco, blues and R&B — the Bayou Brothers will deliver a rousing, rollicking, heart thumpin’, foot stompin’ Main Stage performance.

Mardi Gras Make a Mask PartyIn the Dorothy’s Military Shop and Laundry parking lot, Oside Handmade will have a Mardi Gras mask make-and-take station. For $10 for 1 or $15 for two, create your own wearable Mardi Gras masterpiece with all supplies included, plus receive free beads with purchase. With your finished mask in hand, you’re sure to be the life of the Mardi in Downtown Oceanside.

We’re bringing a new, lively spirit of Mardi Gras to our city Jan. 19 through Fat Tuesday, Feb. 21. During O’side Mardi Gras, Oceanside businesses are hosting Mardi Gras/Carnival experiences within their decorated establishments with events, specials and live music. Created by Downtown Oceanside businesses and sponsored by MainStreet Oceanside, Oceanside Chamber of Commerce, Visit Oceanside and the Oceanside Cultural District, O’side Mardi Gras includes a monthlong Fill Your Soul, Fill Our Boxes Food Drive benefiting North Country Food Bank.
