This Weekend – Video: Tell Your Story — MainStreet Oceanside is partnering with Consultant/Chef/Restaurateur Alfonso Gordon and Producer/Director Richard Pluim to discuss how the COVID-19 crisis has impacted your business. We want to show our audience what our small businesses are doing to stay afloat during the pandemic.
We are currently seeking businesses that are open and willing to share their story and demonstrate the need to support your business during these tough circumstances. We will be practicing social distancing during these productions! The videos will be distributed through our social media platforms and partners in our community.
The production team will be set up at Bliss Tea & Treats located at 301 Mission Avenue on Sunday, April 19 and Monday, April 20 from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Interviews will be 10-15 minutes long in 20 min blocks for each participant, but we understand that this will depend on your availability. Please call or text Rushell Gordon at 442-500-4796 to book your time slot. Alfonso will contact you to pre-screen the interview.

- The State of California Employment Development Department (EDD) provides a variety of support to workers unable to work due to COVID-19.
- If you are sick or quarantined, you can file a Disability Insurance Claim.
- If you are caring for an ill or quarantined family member, you can file a Paid Family Leave (PFL) claim.
- If your employer has reduced your hours or shut down operations, you can file an Unemployment Claim
City, County & State Updates — The City of Oceanside continues to provide information specific to Oceanside on their website, including some good news and inspiring stories during this uncertain time.
The County of San Diego Health and Human Services Department provides updates here, including social distancing templates and a DIY guide for face coverings.
County Supervisor Jim Desmond recently met with Public Health Officials for the County of San Diego and presented ideas he has received regarding the reopening of businesses and getting back to work while at the same time keeping everyone safe. Supervisor Desmond is asking business owners to go to SanDiegoBackToWork.com and give their input on reopening. You can watch Supervisor Desmond’s video message here.
California residents can also call the statewide hotline – 833-544-2374 – with questions and to find assistance during this crisis.
2020 Census – Don’t forget to be counted! Submit your 2020 Census information – it is free and easy to do via the internet, telephone or mail. Participating in the 2020 Census is important as it will determine congressional representation, inform hundreds of billions in federal funding every year, and provide data that will impact communities for the next decade.

Scripps is the only San Diego-based health care provider to make this year’s list. The article called out President and CEO Chris Van Gorder for taking a strong stance to protect employees and the community amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
