Oceanside, CA – Join the Oceanside Public Library in celebrating Women’s History Month on Saturday, March 18 at 3:00 p.m. with author Shilpi Somaya Gowda at the Civic Center Library Community Rooms at 330 North Coast Hwy.
Shilpi Somaya Gowda is the New York Times bestselling author of 3 novels: Secret Daughter (2010), The Golden Son (2016), and The Shape of Family (2020). Her novels explore complex relationships of women, identity, family and loss. The award-winning author will remark on the significance of Women’s History Month and discuss her writing journey and novels. Appropriately, this year’s Women’s History Month theme is “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories.”
In college, Shilpi spent a summer as a volunteer in an Indian orphanage, which seeded the idea for herfirst novel: Secret Daughter was an IndieNext Great Read, a Target Book Club Pick, a Chapters Indigo Heather’s Pick, and an Amnesty International Book Club Pick. It was a finalist for the South African Boeke Literary Prize and the IMPAC Dublin Literary Award. Secret Daughter is currently in production to be a feature film, starring Priyanka Chopra and Sienna Miller.
