One Night, One Show, One Cause-
In This Edition Of Behind The Curtain! One Night, One Show, One Cause PRIDE Month – Musicals Spotlight LGBTQIA+Crazy 80’s With Paul David Bryant SDMT Academy Alum Graduate – CJ Revolution Rent
Join us on June 18th for an incredible night of beautiful, inspiring, and fun music that will make a tremendous difference in the lives of one of SDMT’s own family, Steve & Heather Longfellow and their mother, JoClare. JoClare was diagnosed with melanoma cancer earlier this year and although insurance is in place, it does not cover all the treatments necessary. One Night – One Show – One Cause is a benefit concert consisting of over 30 members of the San Diego theater community who will share their talents to raise funds for the mounting medical expenses.
The theater community, as well as their fans, are an incredibly tight-knit family that always encourages, supports, cheers and consoles each other in the best and worst of times. Every penny donated will go directly towards this very worthy and needed cause that is so close to the hearts of our SDMT theatre family.

HBO’s Revolution Rent follows Andy Señor Jr. to Cuba, where he is tasked with directing a stage production of the Tony and Pulitzer-winning musical, Rent, the country’s first Broadway musical produced by an American company in more than 50 years. Returning to his exiled parents’ homeland, Señor Jr. embarks on a personal journey as he reimagines the show with a Cuban context, exploring his family’s heritage and the complex relationship they have with the country they love.
We are SO excited that SDMT’s pre-professional production of RENT is our first official Broadway Musical production we are bringing back to the Horton Grand Theater stage in the fall.
