Vista, CA –The Only Losers Litter campaign of picking up trash around Vista was started back in January 2017 by Sarah Spinks – and the November group showed enthusiasm and great success!

After quiet summer months, over 50 participants with gloves and bags donned masks and kept social distance to clean up the town. The group received instructions from coordinator Alexis Panchevre, and then spread out from Frazier Farms in all directions, including Vista Village Creek.

An amazing array of unsightly dumped detritus was gathered by the masked community crusaders: plastic and glass containers, cigarette butts, beer cartons, straws, takeout containers, and lots of paper.
Thanks to Frazier Farms for allowing the Only Losers Litter group to fill their dumpster to overflowing.
Thanks to Mrs. Cindy Brooks (CSF advisor at Vista High School) and David Hanlon (Character Leaders advisor at Vista High) for promoting and sharing this opportunity for students to earn community service credit. Students and adults were happy to pitch in and make a difference.
A positive movement has come back to life in Vista – can you join us and take the responsibility to put litter in its place? The next Only Losers Litter trash cleanup will be on December 20 at 2:30 pm, location TBA.www.facebook.com/onlyloserslitter1/events/
Congratulations, team. All trash there would ultimately have moved to the BV creek, and then to the Pacific. You’ve saved wildlife from much plastic contamination.
I try, in my small way, to do the same for the Loma Alta creek bed near me. It’s not hard. While walking my dog I carry a grabber and bag. Always come back to the dumpster with a good crop of debris.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks for sharing our story, Vista Press!!!
