San Marcos, CA – The Palomar College softball team won the state semi-final game against Cerritos College earlier today, May 20, 2023, extending their record to 43-1. The team will play for the state championship at noon tomorrow, Sunday, May 21, 2023, at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, CA.
Earlier this month, Head Coach Lacey Craft and assistant coaches Mark Eldridge, Allie Hughen, and
Megan Wachholtz, were named 2023 ATEC/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA)
Regional Softball Coaching Staff of the Year for the southern region of California. The Comets earned a #1 seed and led the California Community College Athletic Association in a number of offensive and pitching categories. At the time of the award on May 4, 2023, Palomar led in batting average (.396), triples (25), runs (316), RBI (300), fewest strikeouts (54), on-base percentage (.460) and slugging percentage (.613), as well as ERA (71), shutouts (22) and batting average against (.177).
