David A. Willauer-The Dome at Palomar College-  The Palomar Lady Comets after a tough 55-51 defeat vs. Mira Costa have a 2 game winning streak on the season behind the 2 Mission HIlls alums 19 points by Melena Bland and  11 point by Nikki Mayoral as they defeated the Lady Olympians of San Diego Mesa by a 59-41 score.

Palomar Comets Women’s Basketball Coach Leigh Marshall on her team’s performance:  “We in our last couple of games we haven’t shot the ball well along with not executing and playing hard right now were on a 2 or 3 game winning streak where were not playing up to our potential.”
“We aren’t doing the things well on our shots and rebounds that we have to correct.” I was disappointed that we didn’t do well defensively along with our free throws as San Diego Mesa rebounded well off our missed foul shots along with registering key buckets which did the opposite of what we didn’t do.”  said Coach Marshall.

Melena Bland scored 19 points as she was in a no show style on the court but stepped up for us and contributed today we don’t play at home which is strange this team has to figure out how to play in front of our home crowd.
The 19-2 Lady Comets next game is Wednesday, January 29, 2020 vs Southeastern at 6 PM and Friday, January 31, 2020 vs. Grossmont tipoff at 5:00 pm
