Patio Playhouse Community and Youth Theater – Presents Tinseltown Christmas  partnered with the North County Food Bank

Join us in a toe-tapping romance celebrating holiday cheer as it blossoms in the most cynical of hearts.  This entertaining musical makes matchmakers from your favorite classic movie stars. Tinseltown Christmas runs at Patio Playhouse Nov. 20 through Dec. 20, and is filling hearts and bellies through theatrical entertainment and a nonperishable food drive providing hunger-relief services via the San Diego Food Bank.

Escondido, CA – Patio Playhouse Community Theater is proud to present Tinseltown Christmas, a delightful story of the holidays and hope, with book and lyrics by Chana Wise and music by Carl Johnson. This enchanting musical combines a tale of holiday romance with your favorite classic movie stars, brought to life by a vocally talented and entertaining cast. The 3-week run begins Friday, November 20 and plays through Sunday, December 20, with Friday and Saturday evening performances at 8 p.m. and afternoon performances on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. (there will be no performances over Thanksgiving weekend).

During the run of Tinseltown Christmas, Patio Playhouse is working to raise awareness and support for the North County Food Bank.  As a longtime community member, Patio is honored to have the opportunity to help those in need here in our own hometown through our Holiday Food Drive.  The North County Food Bank serves over 18,000 individuals per month, and served over 1.5 million meals last year to those in need in North County, and with its recent operational merge allowing it to become part of the successful Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank, officials hope to serve up to 450,000 people a month county wide.  By collecting nonperishable food items in our lobby throughout the run of our show, we are thrilled to be able to help distribute your pantry items to hungry North County families.  For more information on the food bank, please visit:http://sandiegofoodbank.org/.

As we work together to serve up meals to our neighbors here in North County, we know you’ll really enjoy a full serving of holiday spirit, theater style, delivered by your favorite classic movie stars!  Monica (Kylie Young) hates living next door to Steve (Rick Hernandez).  Likewise, Steve hates living next door to Monica. In fact, the two cynical and harried loners are really only able to agree on one thing: Christmas is a useless time of year… a time when “everyone’s perfectly happy… but everyone’s faking.”  But when the ghosts of four Golden-Age Christmas movies begin popping out of Monica’s TV – Judy Garland, Jimmy Stewart, Bing Crosby, and Natalie Wood – a holiday romance begins to bloom in one of the most unlikely places! The cast is led by Kylie Young as Monica and Rick Hernandez as Steve, two neighbors who are fed up with the holidays.  They are joined by Victoria Patton, Wren Miller, Jacob Hatch, and Juliana Rotta as the classic movie stars, Amanda Frawley as apartment complex manager Buddy, and Sarah Slaven and Andre Urbano rounding out the ensemble.  Enjoy a full helping of holiday cheer in this rollicking romantic musical, appropriate for all ages.
