The endearing Disney musical takes a turn for the cuter in this Patio Playhouse Youth Theater rendition of Mulan, Jr., the legend of a misfit who saves a country, playing October 14-30 at Patio Playhouse in Escondido.
Escondido, CA – Patio Playhouse Community and Youth Theater is proud to present Disney’s Mulan Jr., based on the favorite Disney film, in which the Huns have invaded, and it is up to the misfit Mulan and her mischievous dragon sidekick, Mushu, to save the Emperor. Defying the village matchmaker, Mulan takes up arms and disguises herself as a boy in order to spare her father from having to serve in the army. This show will you have you on the edge of your seat, smiling, and cheering on this legendary warrior.
Lead Mulan is ably played by Ciara Atencio, who is joined by understudy Taylor Yount, and accompanied by the entertaining stylings of Mushu (Gabriel Rasmussen). Playing opposite Mulan in the emcampment are Captain Shang (Andres Lagang), Chi (Elly Rasmussen), Yao (Paige Townsend), Qian-Po (Olivia Filbig), and Ling (Sage Barton). The cast also includes: Joe Bono, Samantha Morris, Alia Hranek, Anya Ernst, Maddy Ernst, Taylor Gonzalez, Rayne Gonzalez, Reina Stinchcomb, Christian Reyes, Melina Segura, Savanna Saylors, Ricquelme Hernandez, Abby White, Desiree Galindo, Ciana Armosino, Sofia Dalakas, Melody White, Gabriella Armosino, Rebecca Vavrek, Angela Hernandez, Gabriella Reichel, and Morgan Evans.
This audience-beloved retelling is fun for all members of the family, and includes songs such as “Reflection,” “Written in Stone,” and “I’ll Make a Man out of You.” Audiences will be charmed beginning Friday, October 14 and playing throughSunday, October 30, with Friday and Saturday evening performances at 7 p.m. and afternoon performances on Sundays at 2:00 p.m.
