Are you getting your eyes checked?
Vision problems and serious eye conditions can go completely unnoticed. With the help of an optometrist, eye diseases can be diagnosed early and potential vision loss prevented or slowed down.

Cataracts are one of the leading causes of blindness. A cataract is a clouding of the lens inside of your eye. Depending on the type of cataract, it can develop slowly or quickly and can affect one or both eyes. While aging is the main cause, other risk factors include diabetes, smoking, too much sun exposure, trauma to the eye and long-term use of certain medications. Cataracts can only be treated by removing them surgically but should be monitored closely by your optometrist. Your optometrist can let you know when it is time to have them removed.

Regular eye exams not only catch cataracts early but also help diagnose other potential ocular and visual problems. The experts at VCC can help you get this done, close to home with quality affordable care. Their experienced optometrists use advanced equipment to check for cataracts and other eye diseases and conditions. Now, with four locations in North County and one in Lake Elsinore, it is even easier to take a proactive step towards better eye health and overall well-being with a trip to your local optometrist.

You can reduce your risk of cataracts by scheduling annual eye exams, wearing UV-blocking sunglasses and a hat outdoors, eating a healthy diet, quitting smoking, and managing health conditions like diabetes.
