Oceanside, CA —Mobile shower unit to provide hot showers to those living on the streets
- WHEN: Wednesday, January 19thfrom 3 to 4 p.m.
- WHERE: Calvary Chapel Oceanside – 3715 Oceanic Way, Oceanside, CA 92056

In 2021, the San Diego Rescue Mission piloted mobile shower services once a week at their location in Oceanside to reach more unsheltered neighbors with the practical care and referrals to resources they so desperately need. The San Diego Rescue Mission has provided 1,185 showers to people experiencing homelessness, with an average of 25 showers each week. In addition to providing showers, the Rescue Mission connected with 500 additional people seeking help. In total, 39 individuals were referred to the Rescue Mission’s long-term residential program called Mission Academy.
People on the streets have few opportunities to shower and daily hygiene is a constant struggle. With the Rescue Mission’s custom 4-shower mobile shower unit which will stop at scheduled locations in North County, the Rescue Mission will double its capacity and will be able to provide 16 showers per hour of operation. With multiple locations of service, this will greatly increase the number of showers they are able to provide to our vulnerable neighbors, restoring dignity and hope. This program was made possible through generous donations by Hope for San Diego, The Walter J. and Berry C. Zable Foundation and Hoehn Motors.
The Shower Ministry is a part of the San Diego Rescue Mission’s expansion in North County, which will meet the needs of people experiencing homelessness who are hurting, hungry and poor. The Rescue Mission’s programs are designed not only to meet their immediate, tangible necessities, but also to address the underlying issues of the heart. This is how lives are transformed, impacting San Diego one life at a time
