The San Diego County Probation Officers Association has endorsed Jim Desmond for Re-election to the San Diego County Board of Supervisors in 2022.
“Supervisor Jim Desmond has been a strong and important voice in support of San Diego County probation officers,” said Shannon Edison, the President of the San Diego County Probation Officers Association. “He’s been a forceful advocate for ensuring that the probation department has the critical tools necessary to properly oversee probationers and increase public safety.”
“We are proud to endorse Jim Desmond because he has a demonstrated record of working to strengthen public safety to protect San Diego residents,” said Jose Gutierrez, the Chairman of the Probation Officers Political Action Committee. “Probation Officers in San Diego County face unique challenges and Supervisor Desmond recognizes those issues and supports our officers,” Gutierrez added.
“It’s an honor to receive the endorsement of the San Diego County Probation Officers Association,” said Supervisor Desmond. “San Diego’s probation officers are essential to California’s public safety system. Officers ensure that individuals in the justice system comply with court sentences, and most importantly, guide probationers to more productive and fulfilling lives. I know from my experience as the North County Supervisor that probation officers have a tough but critical job. Their support means a great deal to me,” Desmond concluded.
The San Diego County Probation Officers Association represents nearly 1,000 peace officers working throughout the county in juvenile and adult investigations and supervision, institutions, home supervision, gang intervention, and work projects.
