The San Marcos Public Works department has just launched a community survey to collect valuable feedback from residents about the community services they provide. The public works team handles operations and maintenance of city parks, landscaping, streets, drainage, traffic signals, the city vehicle and equipment fleet and outdoor lighting. Additionally, the team works on the design and construction management of the city’s capital improvement program.

As a San Marcos community member, your feedback is important to us. We will use the feedback from the survey to improve our services.

The survey linked below should take less than five minutes to complete. Survey results are anonymous. Please complete the survey on or before May 31.

The next phase of work on Discovery Street has also begun and it requires Discovery Street, between Applewilde and Via Vera Cruz, to close for up to four months to accommodate utility work near the intersection of Via Vera Cruz. The Creek project team has coordinated with nearby neighborhoods, schools and organizations to minimize impacts of this closure.

When construction is completed, Discovery Street will be widened from two lanes to four lanes between Bent Avenue and Via Vera Cruz, with a new turn lane in the middle, and the roadway will be elevated to meet the new raised intersections at Bent Avenue and Via Vera Cruz. Sidewalks will be installed on the south side of Discovery Street, a new walking trail will be installed on top of the levee along the north side of Discovery Street next to the creek, and powerlines will be relocated underground.

Work has already started on the north side of Discovery Street, and once completed, crews will shift to the south side of the road. During this time, a new soundwall will also be installed in front of Lakeview Mobile Estates that is designed to lessen street noise for residents. Sidewalks and bike lanes will be closed temporarily during construction.

Gyan is front and center as he hosted the May Mixer at Flavor of Himalaya, 727 W. San Marcos Blvd.
