San Marcos Hike

Join us for the Rose Ranch & Richland Area hike. A blend of wide sidewalks, maintained trails and signature parks await you on this 5.3-mile hike through some of the oldest neighborhoods in San Marcos. You will also pass by significant San Marcos historical structures. There is minimal elevation gain. This hike is rated easy-to-moderate.

Pop-Up Rec

Chalk Mural

Come to Woodland Park for this month’s Pop-Up Rec! We are going to create chalk murals on paper. This park is also home to one of two City pools.

You bring the creativity, and we’ll bring all the supplies you need! While supplies last.

Star Walk XXIV

Enjoy a night under the stars and learn basic astronomy concepts at a beginner’s level. Locate and understand featured celestial/astronomical events. Locate and identify common Constellations and Asterisms.

Perseid Meteor Showers; New Moon/Crescent Moon; Mercury and Mars; Where are the others? Summer and Circumpolar Asterisms/Constellations: Swan, Eagle, Bears, Milky Way, Teapot, and Scorpion.

Recommended Equipment:

LED flashlight with red filter or red lens cover, Binoculars, Warm clothes, Blanket and/or ground cloth.

Family Night Craft Pick-up

Glowing Bottle Firefly

Children will create a glowing firefly friend with a bottle, pipe cleaners, google eyes, tulle fabric and glowing lights.

Family Night activities bring families together. Crafts/activities are intended for children ages three to ten. Each On-The-Go kit contains one craft or activity. Adjust quantity when registering for each child participating.

Open Recreation Swim Open Recreation Swim is for individuals or families to enjoy the pool and swim. Please visitwww.san-marcos.net/watersafety for a list of pool rules. Pool heated to 84°F.Please note: if the projected high temperature for the day is below 60°F, or there is thunder and lightning, open Rec Swim will be cancelled that day. We will remain open during rain.

Lap Swim Purchase a Splash Pass membership for year-round access, or pay a drop-in fee for an intense or easy workout. Pool is heated and outdoors. Please bring your own equipment.
Splash Pass Membership

Swim Team City of San Marcos will be hosting a new, co-ed, 7 to 18 year old, recreational swim teams. The swim teams will be split based on age and focuses on endurance and technique while making friends and having fun! In order to be a part of the City of San Marcos Swim Team a minimum requirement is 25-meter free-style and 25-meter backstroke (not timed) must be completed in a try-out. Visit the pool during open hours and the head guard can provide a try-out.
Location: Las Posas Park Pool

Days: Monday-Thursday|8 classes

Time: 7-11 years | 5-5:30 p.m.12-18 years | 6-6:60 p.m.

Fees: $50 | 8 classes

Aqua AerobicsNow hosted in-house by our certified Water Safety Instructors. Come and enjoy a guided warm-up, motivational cardio workout exercises followed by a cool down and stretch. This is a gentle class geared towards facilitating a healthy, active lifestyle. Beginners welcome, equipment provided.
