Annual San Marcos Trails Day
Our annual trails day event returns this year! A challenging, 7-mile hike with more than 1,000 feet of elevation gain will be offered to Double Peak Park via the Cima Loop Trail and La Plaza Drive. A 1-mile interpretive walk will feature the flora and fauna of the Discovery Creek Trails. And a 3 and 6-mile equestrian trot will also be offered starting from the Ridgeline Trailhead. Vendors, SDMBA bike course and event sign-in all begin at 8am! 7-mile hike, flora and fauna walk and equestrian trot will all begin shortly after 9am!

Craft Fair @SAC
Vendors will be selling handmade crafts & gifts. $10 non-refundable Crafter fee. One table per crafter. Deadline to register is June 5. Senior Activity Center | 111 Richmar Avenue, San Marcos. Wednesday, June 8 | 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Register for your table here.

Family Night Pick-up
Family Night activities bring families together while participating in arts & crafts and assorted projects. Crafts/activities are intended for children ages three to ten. Each $5 Father’s Day Candy Tie On-The-Go kit contains one craft or activity. If multiple children would like to participate, parents must pre-register each child individually.

Raggedy Ann & Andy Preschool
RAA Summer Session registration will open Wednesday, June 1 at 9:00am for San Marcos residents and 10:00am for non-residents. RAA Summer Session will be offered at the San Marcos Community Center and San Elijo Community Center from June 27 through August 19. Session are offered M/W/F for $410 or T/Th for $287, you can only register for one option. Click here for more information.

Father’s Day Luncheon @SAC
Let’s celebrate Dad in the Discovery Cafe with a summertime picnic. Hamburgers and ice cream floats for everyone! $5 ages 59 and younger, $4 suggested contribution for ages 60+. Bubbles, Bubbles, More Bubbles
Kick off summer with a bubble party! You can create big, little, and colorful bubbles during this fun activity.

Summer Passport
Keep an eye out for our new Summer Passport activity coming this July in honor of Parks and Recreation month. Children will get a chance to explore fun places around San Marcos to get their passport stamped to win a prize!
Red, White and BOOM!

San Marcos hosts one of the most spirited 4th of July Celebrations in North County. This year’s festivities will include carnival games, jumpers and food sales on-site. Guests should plan to bring beach chairs or blankets for lawn seating.
The fireworks display is funded entirely by donations from the businesses and citizens of San Marcos. Last year’s donations are being rolled over to help fund this year’s show. An additional $12,000 is needed to fund the show. To make a donation, visit the link below.

MahrKay will guide you through a warm-up and progressive core workouts with & without supplied equipment, finishing with a cool down time. The class is all about encouragement and motivation blended with body toning, balance and strength-building for healthy life goals.
Worlds Largest Swim Lesson
The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™ (WLSL) is a global drowning prevention event launched by the World Waterpark Association in 2010. WLSL serves as a platform to help communities build awareness about the fundamental importance of teaching children to swim. Swimming is a life-saving skill for children and a vital tool to prevent drowning, the number one cause of death for U.S. children ages 1-4, and second leading cause for children 5-14.

Scholarships Available Now!
The Friends of San Marcos Parks & Recreation have donated $5,000 this year for recreation scholarships! These scholarships are available through the City of San Marcos Parks & Recreation and are contingent upon meeting certain financial eligibility requirements. Park Shelter Reservations Available

The City has 21 designated reservable park picnic shelters at 12 different City parks that may be reserved to host your next celebration. A reservation must be made for groups of 25 people or more and groups who wish to have a inflatable or pony/petting zoo. Groups under 25 people can still make a reservation or choose to use the park on a first come first serve basis.

Reservable park picnic shelters can be reserved online a minimum of 8 days in advance and at the Parks and Recreation office 4 days in advance of your desired date. Reservations are paid in full at the time of booking.
