Esports are coming to San Marcos!
The City of San Marcos is excited to announce our upcoming esports programming! Players can register to compete in games such as, APEX Legends, Super Smash Bro. Ultimate, Rocket League, Mario Kart, Fortnite, with more games being added shortly. Sign up for the esports newsletter at the link below to get notified when signups start for your favorite games. San Marcos Hike
Join us Saturday, August 7 for the Sunset Drive to Felicita Creek hike. This easy to moderate 6-mile scenic hike takes you along Lake Hodges’ north shoreline from I-15 to the Felicita Creek Crossing, with a trip across the Krietzer Pedestrian Bridge and back. Meeting Location is the SDRP Parking Lot, Sunset Dr., Escondido 92025 (south of Via Rancho Parkway past The Hodges Golf Learning Center) Hike Sign-in starts at 8:30 a.m. with hike beginning at 9 a.m.

Summer Concerts – Fan Halen

Get ready to rock out at our summer concert August 7! We will be featuring the famous tribute band Fan Halen. Please bring low back chairs, and no dogs are allowed. Tickets are $8, and can be purchased at the link below. Doors open 6 p.m. with the show starting at 7:30 p.m. The show is located at the Wood House at Woodland Park 1148 Rock Springs Rd. Buy your tickets here.

Family Night Pick-up
Family Night activities bring families together while participating in arts & crafts and assorted projects. Crafts/activities are intended for children ages three to ten. Each $5 Tic-Tac-Toe On The Go kit contains one craft or activity. If multiple children would like to participate, parents must pre-register each child individually. Craft pick-up is Wednesday, August 11 | 3:30-4:30 p.m. at the San Marcos Community Center. Register your child here.

Movies in the Park
Enjoy a night out with a free Movie in the Park! Lawn games and activities start at 6:30 p.m., with the movie beginning at sundown (about 8 p.m.). Bring your blanket or lawn chairs for seating. Your dinner and snacks are welcome. Wonder Woman 1984 (PG-13) | August 13 | Richmar Park

Bike Rodeo
Bring your bike August 14 to Hollandia Park for a morning of fun! In coordination with the San Diego Mountain Bike Association, a mobile pump track and other obstacle courses will be set up for kids to learn and perfect their bike riding skills.

STAR WALK XII

Beginner Astronomy concepts; The Autumn Equinox, the Planets and the Moon; Summer constellations; Perseid Meteor Shower.
Learn basic astronomy concepts at a beginner’s level. Locate and understand featured celestial/astronomical events. Locate and identify common Constellations and Asterisms.
Recommended Equipment: LED flashlight with red filter or red lens cover, Binoculars, Warm clothes, Blanket and/or ground cloth.

Junior Ranger Pick-up
Learn what it takes to be a Junior Ranger! Your child will earn a badge through interactive hands-on activities about local plants and animals, nature, conservation, trail safety and more! Drive through the Civic Center Tuesday, August 24 for your free Junior Ranger kit!
The original pickup time has been updated to 4-5p.m.

Summer Concert – Kanan Road
Have a hoedown at our second summer concert this year on August 28! We will be featuring the local family band Kanan Road. Please bring low back chairs, and no dogs are allowed. Tickets are $8, and can be purchased at the link below. Doors open 6 p.m. with the show starting at 7:30 p.m. The show is located at the Wood House at Woodland Park 1148 Rock Springs Rd.

Summer means Swimming!
This Just In…!Reservations no longer needed for Open Recreation Swim and Splash Passes are available now! Due to the changes in capacity restrictions reservations are no longer needed for Cerro de Las Posas or Woodland Park Pools, just come on down! Splash passes are available online, at the pools or at the community center. Family Splash Passes are good for up to 5 family members or if you have a little bigger of a family, you can purchase one for an additional member. Splash Passes are good for Open Recreation Swim at both pools and Adult Lap Swim at Las Posas. We cannot wait to see you out there! Splash Passes are available here.

Double Peak Challenge is back…AAAAND it’s in-person!
It is summertime, which means it is time to register and get training!The scenic event will in-person this year on Saturday, September 25. There will be fun prizes race expo, cool swag and a beer garden for participants and spectators 21 years or older.To register or for more information, head to www.doublepeakchallenge.com.

Scholarships Available Now!
The Friends of San Marcos Parks & Recreation have donated $5,000 this year for recreation scholarships! These scholarships are available through the City of San Marcos Parks & Recreation and are contingent upon meeting certain financial eligibility requirements. Park Shelter Reservations Available
The City has 22 designated reservable park picnic shelters at 13 different City parks that may be reserved to host your next celebration. A reservation must be made for groups of 25 people or more and groups who wish to have a inflatable or pony/petting zoo.  Groups under 25 people can still make a reservation or choose to use the park on a first come first serve basis. Reservable park picnic shelters can be reserved online a minimum of 8 days in advance and at the Parks and Recreation office 4 days in advance of your desired date. Reservations are paid in full at the time of booking.   For more information, please visit www.san-marcos.net/reserveapark or call the office at 760-744-9000.
