At 11 a.m., the Board of Directors will begin a public hearing for the draft 2021 Regional Plan. During the last two years, SANDAG has used cutting-edge data analytics, engaged community members from across the region, and incorporated the latest transportation technologies to develop the draft 2021 Regional Plan, which combines the Regional Transportation Plan, Sustainable Communities Strategy, and Regional Comprehensive Plan, and also included the draft Air Quality Conformity Determination demonstrating the 2021 Regional Plan’s conformity with the State Implementation Plans for air quality, in accordance with the Transportation Conformity Requirements in 40. C.F.R. 51 and 93, as required by the 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments.

In addition to Friday’s public hearing, the Transportation Committee held a public hearing at its meeting on July 16, 2021, and SANDAG held six virtual public open house events in June, each with a specific focus on details of the plan for a subregional area. The draft 2021 Regional Plan is available for review and public comment through August 6. Comments are also accepted through an online comment form, email, voicemail, fax, and written comments mailed to the SANDAG offices.

SANDAG’s Mission …We are the regional agency that connects people, places, and innovative ideas by implementing solutions with our unique and diverse communities.

SANDAG’s Vision – Pursuing a brighter future for all

Our Commitment to Equity …We hold ourselves accountable to the communities we serve. We acknowledge we have much to learn and much to change; and we firmly uphold equity and inclusion for every person in the San Diego region. This includes historically underserved, systemically marginalized groups impacted by actions and inactions at all levels of our government and society.

We have an obligation to eliminate disparities and ensure that safe, healthy, accessible, and inclusive opportunities are available to everyone. In 2021, SANDAG will develop an equity action plan that will inform how we plan, prioritize, fund, and build projects and programs; frame how we work with our communities; define how we recruit and develop our employees; guide our efforts to conduct unbiased research and interpret data; and set expectations for companies and stakeholders that work with us.

We are committed to creating a San Diego region where every person who visits, works, and lives can thrive.

COVID-19 Response

To protect the health and safety of everyone, SANDAG offices are closed to the public. Most employees are teleworking to provide essential services and continue progress on critical regional projects. We continue to monitor COVID-19 in the region and follow guidance from the San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency.
