SANDAG TO DISCUSS $43 MILLION AFFORDABLE HOUSING GRANT FUNDING AT REGIONAL FORUM
State Funds to Bolster Regional Housing Initiatives
WHEN: Today, Wednesday, February 23
1:30 – 3:30 p.m.
WHERE: Attend the virtual meeting via Zoom
WHAT: SANDAG will host a regional forum to discuss and gather input from local jurisdictions, regional stakeholders, and the public on how up to $43 million in grant funding from the California Department of Housing and Community Development can be used to support affordable housing throughout the San Diego region.
The grant funding will be made available as part of a new Housing Acceleration Program that SANDAG stood up at the beginning of 2022 and will be a key tool for implementing the Mobility Hubs envisioned in the 2021 Regional Plan.
Other Housing Acceleration Program activities include:
- A new Regional Equitable Housing Subcommittee to discuss potential funding sources, a comprehensive regional housing framework, and a regional housing finance authority
- A Housing Policy Leadership Academy for local leaders to explore root causes of the region’s housing crisis and discuss potential solutions
- Technical assistance to local jurisdictions and $6 million in current Housing Acceleration Program Grant funds to help meet regional housing goals
