Senate Minority Leader Jones Congratulates Senate Pro Tem McGuire, Highlights Bipartisanship

Thanks Senate Pro Tem Emeritus Atkins for her leadership 

Sacramento, CA- Senate Minority Leader Brian W. Jones (R-San Diego) issued this statement following the swearing-in ceremony of Senator Mike McGuire (D-Healdsburg) as the 52nd Senate President Pro Tempore:  “Mike and I have a long positive history of working together for a better California. While we differ in some viewpoints and policies, we both remain committed to working together as leaders of the California State Senate. I appreciate that he has a shown a willingness to work in a bipartisan manner. “As the loyal opposition, my caucus and I will continue to voice our concerns about issues that threaten to drag our state backwards and diminish the quality of life for communities in the Golden State. “I also want to thank fellow San Diegan, Senate pro Tempore Emeritus Toni Atkins, for her unwavering service to the state of California. Toni and I have known each other for two decades when we started out in local politics in San Diego. It has been an honor to serve together as we both represent San Diego. On behalf of my caucus, thank you for your leadership to the Senate.” 

Senator Brian W. Jones represents the 40th Senate District which includes the Cities of Escondido, Poway, San Marcos, Santee, San Diego City communities of Carmel Mountain Ranch, Mira Mesa, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Peñasquitos, Scripps Ranch, Sorrento Valley, and University City, along with the San Diego County unincorporated communities of 4S Ranch, Alpine, Bonsall, Fallbrook, Lakeside, Pine Valley, Rainbow, Ramona, and Valley Center.
