WHAT?            Jones is announcing the introduction of the bipartisan Senate Bill 1011, which aims to take the City of San Diego’s “Unsafe Camping Ordinance” statewide.

WHY?       California’s homeless population has increased nearly 40% in the past 6 years, despite spending over $22 billion on the problem. Sadly, California’s homelessness crisis has become a public health and safety crisis.

Modeled after the recent “Unsafe Camping Ordinance” passed by the City of San Diego, Leader Jones’s bipartisan bill will help compassionately clear encampments and help connect homeless individuals to services they desperately need.

The bipartisan Senate Bill 1011 is principal coauthored by Senator Catherine Blakespear (D-Encinitas), coauthored by Senators Marie Alvarado-Gil (D-Jackson), Bill Dodd (D-Napa), Shannon Grove (R-Bakersfield), Brian Dahle (R-Bieber), Roger Niello (R-Fair Oaks), Janet Nguyen (R-Huntington Beach), Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh (R-Yucaipa), Kelly Seyarto (R-Murrieta), Scott Wilk (R-Santa Clarita), and Assemblymembers James Gallagher (R-Nicolaus), Heath Flora (R-Lodi), Juan Alanis (R-Modesto), Megan Dahle (R-Bieber), Joe Patterson (R-Fresno), Bill Essayli (R-Corona), Kate Sanchez (R-Rancho Santa Margarita), and Laurie Davis (R-Laguna Niguel). 

Senator Brian W. Jones represents the 40th Senate District which includes the Cities of Escondido, Poway, San Marcos, Santee, San Diego City communities of Carmel Mountain Ranch, Mira Mesa, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Peñasquitos, Scripps Ranch, Sorrento Valley, and University City, along with the San Diego County unincorporated communities of 4S Ranch, Alpine, Bonsall, Fallbrook, Lakeside, Pine Valley, Rainbow, Ramona, and Valley Center.
